An uncle, an unfinished shop and a few unexpected skill trees. Every build has an origin story.
My uncle was the family’s computer wizard. Whenever a PC needed fixing or upgrading, he arrived with the knowledge. I watched, helped and gradually inherited the local support quest.
As the oldest kid, I became responsible for getting the internet connected, installing Windows and making games run. Luckily, I enjoyed it. My uncle was still there when I got stuck. Every apprentice needs someone who knows which cable goes where.
The first skill tree came with cables.
My first HTML and CSS lessons arrived in middle school. Technical school later did some damage to my confidence, but the story took another turn at university.
A friend wanted to open a shop. I offered to help him find hosting. Somehow, that small side quest grew into coding an application.
The shop never launched. My interest did. Courses led to personal projects, then an internship and a developer job. Apparently, the failed quest had unlocked the main storyline.
I only came here to find hosting.
After starting out in frontend, I spent time expanding my skill tree. More courses, another project and a trip beyond the browser: backend development, APIs and the machinery behind the interface.
That extra equipment helped me find my way to Sanddev and into full-stack work. I could follow a feature further through the application. Unfortunately, the bugs had unlocked the same travel ability.
New area unlocked. The bugs were already there.
When AI first appeared at the party, I wasn’t exactly saving it a seat. Eventually, curiosity won. We tried working together. Things escalated.
These days, coding without my AI companion would feel strangely quiet. I’ve also helped build an assistant and connect it to an application, so I’ve seen both sides of the conversation. We’re good friends now. I still check its work. Friendship has limits.

There’s a branch of the skill tree I’ve been watching for years: databases. Frontend became my entry point into professional development, while the data path stayed on the unexplored part of the map.
Now, with more experience in the inventory, I’m ready to start exploring it properly. SQL is already in the spellbook. Python is currently earning its place. Data engineering is the direction; I’m still unlocking the route.
Enough XP to enter. Plenty left to learn.
Lando and Max are my two furry companions: part cuddle squad, part chaos department, suspiciously well informed about company secrets.
Off duty, I follow Formula 1 and collect LEGO cars that require considerably less maintenance than the real ones. Civilization provides the occasional “one more turn” trap. Astronomy, ancient history and World War II fill another corner of my curiosity inventory.
The cats supervise all of it. Their qualifications remain unclear.
